Misys plc (LSE: MSY) is a leading multinational software company providing software solutions and services to the financial services and healthcare sectors. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.

History

The Company was founded in 1979 as a computer systems supplier to UK insurance brokers. In 1987 its shares were first traded on the Unlisted Securities Market. It was admitted to the Main List of the London Stock Exchange in 1989. In 1994 it acquired Kapiti , a financial services software business which had originated the Midas Kapiti Banking Packages in 1973, and in 1997 it bought Medic Computer Systems , a healthcare software business. In 2001 it went on to buy DBS Management plc , a supplier of software to Independent Financial Advisors, and Sunquest Information Systems Inc. , a US supplier of clinical systems software and later sold the same in 2007

In 2004 the Company acquired IQ Financial Systems from Deutsche Bank for £20m.

In March 2007 newly appointed CEO Mike Lawrie set out a new three to five year strategy to turn around and improve the financial operating performance of the Company.

In March 2008 the Company announced a merger between its healthcare business and Allscripts Inc. , a medical records business: the merger was completed on 10 October 2008, and Misys plc now holds a majority shareholding in the merged entity known as Allscripts-Misys Healthcare Solutions, Inc , which is listed on the NASDAQ (MDRX).

Financial Software

In financial services, the company's software is used in retail banking, corporate and wholesale banking to automate processes and manage risk. Misys also provides software to capital market activities across multiple asset classes.

Misys Treasury & Capital Markets (TCM) creates integrated solutions for financial institutions to manage their capital market activities across multiple asset classes. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Misys plc, headquartered in London, United Kingdom.

TCM solutions include:

• Misys Eagleye : A solution that enables financial institutions to monitor, control and comply with business rules, regulations and limits. It allows for quicker identification of exceptions for better decision making and provides greater controls to senior management.

• Misys Loan IQ : A front-to-back commercial loan processing solution that covers the entire life cycle of a loan – from origination and deal tracking to accounting and settlement. It can be used to process simple bilateral deals to highly complex syndicated deals, including secondary trading. Loan IQ transforms the complexities within the loan cycle into a streamlined, controlled process, and provides the client with full visibility into the loan life cycle. As a result, clients can better manage their loans, streamline work flow, increase efficiencies and reduce operational risk. Loan IQ is used by over 60% of the North American and European agent banks, and processes more than one third of the world’s syndicated loans and half the global traded loan volume. Now as part of LOAN IQ product suite there are subsystems like Misys Loan Cordinator , Trader's Desktop and a Reporting framework called Datanet too, which gives users a good experience in Syndicated Lending work flow automation.

• Misys Opics Plus : A front-to-back multi-asset class solution built on Microsoft .NET, with an SOA, multi-tiered, parallel processing architecture. It offers customers faster transaction processing with a broad functional coverage.

• Misys Risk Vision : An integrated and functionally advanced risk solution, delivering risk measurement and management at enterprise and departmental level, well suited for Banks, Hedge Funds and Financial Intermediaries. Risk Vision supports accurate pricing of numerous trade types, accurate exposure measurement and risk management measures like Value at Risk and Economic Capital. Exposure Management is provided through real-time exposure tracking and use of a flexible rules driven model to control exposures using limits at the consolidated level for all the banks activities, markets and locations. Risk Vision also has various decision support tools like ‘what-if’ analysis, scenario stress testing and sensitivity analysis.

• Misys Summit FT : Deployed by global banks requiring innovative multi-asset class systems with the ability to handle highly complex and structured trades across their front to back office functions. It speeds-up innovation, reduces operational risk and improves Straight Through Processing. Awarded Best Sell-Side Innovation Award 2007 for credit derivatives processing by The Banker, a daughter publication of the Financial Times and brought Misys Technology Provider Of The Year, 2007 from Structured Products magazine.

• Misys Confirmation Matching Service (CMS) : A hosted managed solution with over 850 customers worldwide, it provides a secure access point from which to seamlessly manage treasury operations. Formerly called Treasury Plus, the solution leads the market in post-trade confirmations, enhancing STP, reducing operational risk and eliminating manual processing errors in one streamlined application.

Misys Banking is the specialist banking solutions business within Misys plc with a customer base across retail banking, corporate and wholesale banking.

Main solutions include:

• Misys Almonde : This compliance & performance monitoring platform is built on a common platform with a single data model and analysis engine. Misys Almonde helps banks manage the critical relationship between Return and Capital. Pre-packaged processes and regulatory reports are available to meet both the banks' own demands and those of the national regulators
• Misys Bankmaster : A packaged core retail banking solution, that is designed for small and medium sized banks.
• Misys Equation : A complete, front-to-back retail banking system.
• Misys Message Manager : A messaging layer that delivers components for the creation, routing, workflow, management and delivery of financial messages. This standards-based approach provides a single, message processing layer between any and all back-office systems and external networks.
• Misys Payment Manager : Misys Payment Manager (MPM) is a packaged payment hub designed to help banks with multiple core-processing systems centralise and streamline their payment processes. MPM works with existing back-office systems to deliver more efficient and visible payment workflows.
• Misys Midas Plus : A core banking system primarily for corporate and private banks.
• Misys Trade Services : Misys Trade Services consists of its market leading trade finance back office system, the award winning TI Plus and corporate front-end, Misys Trade Portal .
• Misys Cash Portal : An internet and mobile banking solution for corporate and retail customers.
