Telaprevir , also known as VX-950 , co-developed by Vertex and Johnson & Johnson, is an experimental treatment for hepatitis C that has successfully completed phase I and phase II clinical trials. It is a member of a class of antiviral drugs known as protease inhibitors. Phase III trials are ongoing.
Telaprevir is the first hepatitis C drug currently in development that has demonstrated activity in patients who have failed prior therapy.
