" Keep On Loving You " is a power ballad written by Kevin Cronin and performed by REO Speedwagon. It features the lead guitar work of Gary Richrath. It was one of many REO Speedwagon songs to become a pop hit, reaching the number-one spot for one week in March 1981 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and peaking at number seven in the UK Singles Chart .
Music video
In 1981, the music video of the song was the 17th played on the first day of broadcast of MTV, on August 1 . The music video contains a scene in which a woman picks up a phone whose cord is connected to Gary Richrath's guitar. This is a reference to the song 157 Riverside Ave from their live album, You Get What You Play For, in which Kevin Cronin tells of Gary calling him and communicating through a guitar solo.
