Car Game Park

Jurassic Park III is a light gun arcade game based on the 2001 movie of the same name. Developed by Konami and released in 2001, Jurassic Park III uses the same cabinet and motion sensor technology as Police 911 , requiring players to dodge the oncoming dinosaur attacks. It was preceded by The Lost World: Jurassic Park in 1997, also a light gun game, but from Sega.

Gameplay

In the game, the player must kill dinosaurs by aiming at them and shooting them with the light gun. The player is given eight bullets. The player must reload every time they use all eight bullets. Reloading is done by shooting outside of the screen. After a boss is killed, the player is sometimes given more health if he or she did well killing the boss. A heath bar is shown. The bar gets smaller and smaller as the player receives damage. If the bar is gone, the game is over unless the player puts in more coins and hits the "start" or "continue" button.

Plot

The game starts when two U.S Army Rangers, land on the island with orders by Alan Grant to rescue survivors that crashed on the island earlier on in the story (not shown). The Rangers soon see a pack of Compsognathus attacking two survivors. The player now has to fight other carnivores until the survivors are found. These include Dilophosaurus, Velociraptor, Compsognathus and Pteranodon. Then the player finds the survivors. But suddenly, a Spinosaurus bursts out of the brush and attempts to grab one survivor. But the player's teammates help them escape and they hop into an armored car and the player mans the machine gun in the turret and has to fight the Spinosaurus while the Spinosaurus chases the vehicle. This is the first boss. If the player fails, the Spinosaurus destroys it and the player has to escape on foot. If the player succeeds, the Spinosaurus gives up and escapes. The next level begins when the hunters find that there's more survivors in the laboratory (The one in the movie). The player stays in the car at this time, fighting Velociraptors, Pteranodon, Dilophosaurus, and Compsognathus. If the dinosaurs destroy the car, the player fights them on foot. Then the car runs into a female T-rex and her young (The one in the second movie). The car stalls and the player must shoot the female to keep it from destroying the car. This is the second boss. The player must defeat the mother. If the player kills the baby by accident, the level resets. There are weak points indicated by yellow circles on certain body parts in this and other bosses. When you hit the circles, they turn red a little. If the circles are completely red, the boss enemy is knocked back. After the female T-rex is defeated, a Velociraptor attacks the infant. If the Velociraptor is killed by the player first, the player escapes. If the player fails, a male Tyrannosaurus suddenly bursts from the right and kills the Velociraptor in an attempt to protect the offspring. But he ends up eating it alive instead. One of the teammates manages to restart the car and the car leaves, leaving the family behind with the T-rex mother dead. The armored car goes into a dock, but a Sarcosuchus attacks and destroys the dock, killing a Dilophosaurus. The car escapes and the player now has to defeat the third boss. But instead of yellow circles, there are red crosshairs. When you hit the crosshairs, the crocodile falls into the lake. The battle ends with the Sarcosuchus leaps onto another dock and heads toward the player, mouth open and ready to pull the car underwater and eat you. The final crosshairs appear. Hitting thise set of crosshairs kills it, and the Sarcosuchus' corpse slides back into the lake.

It is soon found out that more survivors are at the hatchery where the people in Jurassic Park III were first attacked. On the way there in the vehicle, the group crashes into a Gastonia and has to defeat it. This is the fourth boss. There are yellow circles that point to the ankylosaur's belly. Hitting this will inflict great damage. However, the Gastonia often hides his weak spot. If you shoot a leg, the Gastonia will be disabled and you can shoot at the stomach as much as possible. When that is done, they arrive at the hatchery to rescue the survivors. After defeating a huge group of Velociraptor in the building and rescuing the survivor, they leave, walking into a parking lot full of land cruisers. A T. rex boss attacks them. Once it's defeated, they head off into the Bird Cage where the Pteranodon were in the movie. After defeating a group of the flying creatures, rescuing the remaining survivors and defeating the Quetzalcoatlus boss, the group head to the boat (like in the movie), fighting more Velociraptor along the way. Later, the player's armored car crashes into an Ankylosaurus, which destroys it by smashing the engine compartment using his clubbed tail. The yellow circles are different now. When you hit the circles pointing to the tail, the attack is repelled and the Ankylosaurus is forced to jerk it back. Like the Gastonia boss, hitting the leg disables it and hitting the belly inflicts great damage. When that is done. The armored car continues and the player crashes into a Spinosaurus. This is the same Spinosaurus from the first level. There are weak points that point to the Spino's neck, sail, mouth, and eyes. Hitting them will inflict great damage. However, after you fight the Spinosaurus, a Gastonia attacks it and the Spinosaurus ends up fighting the Gastonia , allowing you to escape. However, you have to shoot the Gastonia to make it easier for Spino to kill the ankylosaur. After the Spino kills and eats it, a set of crosshairs pointing to his thigh appears. Hitting this inflicts great damage and kills the beast. If you don't kill the Spinosaurus, the Spino may go after you for dessert.

As you make it across the river, they are assaulted by more Velociraptor , Compsognathus , Dilophosaurus , and Pteranodon . After surviving these attacks, they face off against a Spinosaurus which attacks while taking cover underwater. When the group reaches shore, they make their way through another group of Velociraptor until night falls in and they reach their goal, the Marina. There, a Tyrannosaurus attacks the group in a flaming background. After defeating the T-rex the group gets on a boat and leaves the island. The Rangers lean against the boat as dawn breaks over. The credits show a variety of dinosaurs in the game running along a computerized background (green grids along a black backdrop).
