Norco Performance Bikes is a bicycle manufacturer headquartered in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada. Norco designs and distributes more than 140 bike models to more than 15 countries.
History
- 1964 - Norco was founded by Bert Lewis in Burnaby British Columbia
- 1970 - Opened a distribution branch in Toronto ON
- 1973 - Started importing suspension BMX bikes into Canada
- 1975 - Started manufacturing pannier bags which would eventually be sold under the Axiom label
- 1977 - Launched the Bike Guard brand selling bicycle locks
- 1980 - Started sponsoring a factory BMX team
- 1984 - Became one of the first companies in Canada to both design and manufacture mountain bikes in Canada.
- 1991 - Began to modify frame geometry of production bicycle for front suspension forks. This has now become the industry standard.
- 1994 - Developed and released its first fully active suspension bike - the FTS. This utilized current horst-link technology
- 1995 - Moved HQ into Port Coquitlam BC, Canada
- 1996 - Acquired the BLT light company
- 1997 - Acquired the Adams Trail-A-Bike company
- 1999 - Began sponsoring Ride Guide TV
- 2000 - Factory Team rider Ryan Leech breaks world side-hop record
- 2002 - Launched Mace Gear line of clothing and armour
- 2003 - Norco Hosts its first VPS Fest - Rider Appreciation Day
- 2004 - Norco becomes first corporate member of IMBA Canada
- 2006 - Norco PR/Marketing Manager is nominated as an inductee into the 'Mountain Biking Hall of Fame'
