Sewer Contractor

Carl Andrew Capasso (September 10, 1945 - March 14, 2001) aka Andy Capasso, was a sewer contractor who had been convicted of tax fraud. He was accused of bribing judge Hortense Gabel (1912-1990) by arranging, for the judge's daughter Sukhreet Gabel, a job with Bess Myerson. Myerson was indicted and resigned her positions with the City of New York, but was ultimately acquitted. The scandal was the subject of a book by Shana Alexander (1991). He died in 2001 and was buried in Southampton Cemetery.
