Snap Fitness is a privately owned and operated fitness chain co-founded in 2003 by Peter Taunton and Chad A. Kirchoff. Peter is a health club owner and former raquetball professional. The company motto is "Fast, Convenient, Affordable", and brands itself as an alternative to the "big box" fitness centers such as Lifetime Fitness and Bally Total Fitness. Headquarters are located in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
Current Operations
Snap Fitness operates through franchising, and currently features over 900 open locations, with another 1,000 planned, in the U.S. and Canada, as well as new clubs in India, Mexico and Australia.
Most locations are open 24 hours a day and 7 days per week. Month-to-month membership options include individual, joint, family, and corporate memberships. Prepaid membership options offer additional savings. Square footage of a Snap Fitness may range anywhere from 1,500 to 4,500 square feet (420 m 2 ), while some larger clubs do exist. Some clubs offer tanning services. Most clubs offer Personal Training. Members may freeze their memberships up to three months per year.
