WikiProject Travel and Tourism was started on May 17, 2007, to coordinate work for and expand coverage of travel and tourism related articles in the English Wikipedia.
Anyone who is interested in contributing, please sign up below and post any ideas and suggestions on the project's talk page. Also, please feel free to edit this page, adding any articles to the open tasks section below, that need serious work or require attention.
Scope and Introduction
This WikiProject aims to coordinate and help maintain the development of and improvements to the articles related to travel and tourism. Listed below, you will find tasks and other information related to this WikiProject.

Coordinators
Coordinators are volunteers that are interested in helping "running" the project in a way. This does not mean that they control the project or are the "CEOs" of it. It means that they would like to accept a responsibility.

Open tasks
Please feel free to add any tourism-related articles to this list, that need to be addressed or improved, in addition to general tasks.
- Get a peer review for space tourism, and see what we can do to get it to GA.
- Cleanup volunteer travel. The article sounds more like a dedicated volunteer vacation site, than an encyclopedia.
Cleanup Backpacking (travel). The article has been less than useful almost since its creation. I self-nominated for this after realising there was little I could do for YHA.This has been do ne, while I don't think the article is perfect, I think it's a marked improvement from what it was and am hoping the NPOV tag will go away soon. Per this: Africa in topic|Tourism in We don't have very many tourism-related Africa articles. Also, be sure to check the templates for other continents, too.
- Assess as many articles as we can. We're just starting off, and we need as much help as we can get.
- Is anyone up for an assessment/review of Backpacking (travel)? I think it's been improved but could always do with more. I'm interested to know if there's a consensus on what could change there. If this is the wrong place to post it, I apologize but Wikipedia:WikiProject Travel and Tourism/Assessment doesn't have a talk page and I wasn't sure where else to put it. - Nautical tourism, created Feb 2007, has been an orphan and that entire time and tagged for cleanup. Desperately needs attention, or simply deletion. --Lendorien (talk) 15:33, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
- Travel agency - Needs to be updated with more current information, some of the references are over 7 years old and are dated. Will work on getting newer references, any help is appreciated! --Funandtrvl (talk) 15:27, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Categorization
- Categorize all tourism-related articles.
- Add the {{TourismProject}} template to the talk pages of all tourism-related articles.
- Add the {{tourism-stub}} template to all existing tourism-related stub articles.
- Add the {{Infobox hotel}} template to all hotel articles.
- Target tourism-related articles to take to Good or Featured Article status.
Vandalism Patrol
- Patrol changes to tourism-related articles.
- Add all tourism-related articles, that are subject to frequent changes or are susceptible to vandalism, to the WikiProject Tourism/Watchlist.
