Cook Out is a fast food privately owned restaurant chain in North Carolina. Founded in Greensboro in 1989, the chain has since expanded throughout the state and now has drive-thru restaurants in over twenty cities. Most locations consist of a double-thru and lack indoor seating - many only offering limited outdoor seating. The restaurants specialize in grilled hamburgers and hotdogs (cook-out style), chicken sandwiches, and North Carolina barbecue. Cook Out is also known for its variety of 41 different "Creamery" Premium milkshakes with choices like "Banana Pudding" and "Chocolate Cherry".
Cook Out was created in 1989 by Morris Reaves. He is currently owner with his son Jeremy Reaves, who currently runs the company. As of July 2009 there are 62 locations.
Cook Out has a variety of religious based bible passages or phrase from the Christian bible printed on its food packaging. For example, "John 3:16" and "God Bless America" are printed on the cups, "God Bless the USA" and Galatians 6:10 are printed on the french fry bags and "THANK YOU GOD FOR AMERICA" and Psalms 119:165 are printed on the full size bags, but Bible verses vary.

Cookout has a long menu of milkshakes, which the restaurant brands as "Creamery Premium". All milkshakes use fresh ingredients, have a thick texture and taste. The list includes:

Banana, Peach Cobbler, Oreo, Heath Toffee, Oreo Mint, P.B. Fudge, Peanut Butter, Snickers, Walnut, Reese’s P.B. Cup, Cheesecake, Caramel Cheesecake, Chocolate Cheesecake, Chocolate Chip Cheesecake, Blueberry Cheesecake, Strawberry Cheesecake, Pineapple, Chocolate Chip Mint, Mocha, Caramel Coffee, Chocolates Cobbler
Seasonal Flavors: Watermelon (available in July and August), Egg Nog (available in December).
Local Flavors: Brownie (available at Western Blvd. location in Raleigh)
