Culinary Schools In Colorado

Culinary School of the Rockies was founded in 1991, and is a culinary school located in Boulder, Colorado, USA. It is a nationally accredited culinary school offering multiple professional diploma programs, classes for food enthusiasts and corporate cooking team building events.

History

The school was founded by Joan Brett in 1991 as Cooking School of the Rockies. In 1993 the school changed its name to Culinary School of the Rockies (CSR). The school introduced its first professional program, Culinary Arts in 1996. Since then, CSR has expanded the professional programs with Chef Track and Pastry Arts. In 2001, CSR introduced the Corporate Kitchen program, offering private events and team building for companies.

Programs offered

Culinary School of the Rockies is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET), and approved and regulated by the Colorado Department of Higher Education, Division of Private Occupational Schools.

Professional programs

Culinary Arts

Culinary School of the Rockies offers a full-time, six month Culinary Arts program focused on classical French cuisine. Culinary School of the Rockies also incorporates an experiential, off-site, month-long externship with their Culinary Arts program.

In the January Culinary Arts program, the students travel to France to cook with French chefs at the historic Château de Suze la Rousse , home of l'Université du Vin . Students Participate in a 7-8 day stage (apprenticeship) at a French restaurant, hotel, or pâtisserie .

In the July Culinary Arts program, the students participate in an off-site, hands-on Farm to Table externship in Colorado. The students work side-by-side with farmers and artisans in the North Fork Valley and Boulder County. Students participate in a 7-8 day stage in Colorado restaurants whose chefs purchase directly from local family farmers.

Chef Track

Chef Track is a 15 week, part-time program focused on classical French cuisine. The program meets three days per week for 5 hour sessions, for a total of 15 hours. Students work side-by-side with several local Guest Chefs and caterers throughout the course.

Pastry Arts

Pastry Arts is an intensive, 5-week program focused on the art of baking and pastry skills. Students meet 5 days per week for a total of 25 days for intensive, hands-on pastry training. The students design and bake for a public bake sale and produce pastries for a graduation celebration.

Recreational Programs

Culinary School of the Rockies offers recreational Home Cook courses for non-professionals year-round. They offer multiple day, hands-on workshops, techniques and skills courses.

Cooking vacations

Culinary School of the Rockies offers hands-on, 5-day, cooking vacations throughout the year.

Culinary Skills

Culinary Skills is a hands-on, 20-week, intensive course offered by Culinary School of the Rockies. The course meets one evening per week for 20 weeks, for a total of 90 hours.

Culinary team building events

The Corporate Kitchen department offers private classes, celebration events and cooking team building events for private groups and companies.
