Goleta High Junior School Valley

Goleta Valley Junior High School is a junior high school in Goleta, California, just northwest of Santa Barbara, California. Located in the Goleta Valley foothills. With a student body of about 820 students in grades 7th and 8th, Goleta Valley J.H. employs about thirty five teachers as part of the Santa Barbara School Districts.GVJH or simply GV is a National Blue Ribbon School.

Students

The students are known as "Mariners" although they are farther divided into four "houses" (like in Harry Potter ) the houses are Seamonkeys, Golden Vikings, Pirates, and Buccaneers. The houses compete for "House Points" in events such as ballon stomp, at the end of the year the house with the most points wins the"Mariner Cup."

Electives

Seventh Graders

For 7th graders the school only offers 2 choices. Students must take ether the tech wheel or art wheel . each wheel has three classes, the students rotate classes every trimester.

Tech wheel

The tech wheel includes the following classes: Health, Intro to personal computer (IPC), and Industrial Technology. In Industrial Tech students learn how to make a small wood nutcracker, a short video news cast, students also learn to repair a small engine. The IPC class teaches students how to make a website, improve their power point and word skills. In health class students learn how to live a healthy life.

Art wheel

The art wheel has theater arts, art class and it also has heath. The health class is the same class as the one in the tech wheel. The theater arts class encourages students to bring out their acting skills. Students learn to express themselves on paper in art class.

For eighth graders however the school offers many more choices including:
