Webkinz are stuffed toy animals that were originally released by Ganz on April 29, 2005. There are also smaller less expensive versions of the toys called Lil'Kinz. There are slightly more expensive verscollection launched in early 2009. Every item comes with a "secret code" that players can enter on the Webkinz website to unlock something in "Webkinz World". During the same month as the Signature collection, keychain versions of many popular styles are offered as part of the Kinz Klipz collection, which unlock access to the virtual land of Zumwhere. See "Zumbuddies" below. Webkinz pets vary from a simple Pig to a flying Griffin!
Webkinz
Webkinz are stuffed toy animals that each come with a "secret code" that allows access to the "Webkinz World" website. They come in different types, such as normal, jungle, underwater, and flying animals. Each Webkinz and Lil'Kinz comes with a special item, which users can put in their pet's room, and a special food, which they can feed to their virtual Webkinz. Some Webkinz can only be bought online at the Webkinz e-store. These are only virtual pets and do not come with a stuffed animal version. There are many different types of estore pets like the birthstone pets (may 2009), the fox-like pets (like the floral foxes or the fawns) and many more. The Bubblegumasaurus and the Love Dino both resemble a Stegosaurus according to the site. Some Webkinz pets have feminine looks like the Pink Pony and the Cherry Blossom Bird. However, pets can have any gender. The singular of Webkinz is Webkinz not Webkin. In September 2008, Ganz released its 100th pet. In November 2009, Ganz released its 200th pet.
Lil'Kinz
Lil'kinz are smaller versions of Webkinz. While most Lil'kinz are an animal that is available as a Webkinz, some are only available as a Lil'Kinz. The singular of lil'kinz is lil'kinz not lil'kin. Nowdays, most lil'kinz are only lil'kinz rather than a pet that has a lil'kinz and a normal size Webkinz. Lil'Kinz resemble small birds and fish (plus a mouse) rather than normal pets and animals. Signature Collection
In April 2009, Ganz launched the Signature Collection, a line of special Webkinz that are more life-like than normal Webkinz. They are mostly like regular Webkinz, except that they are slightly more expensive. In March 2010 Ganz released 2 new lines of signature pets: small, and endangered. Endangered pets include an endangered signature gift box and an endangered wallpaper and flooring box that have new "signature room theme" items. A small signature is going to be the price of a normal webkinz and slightly smaller, but all the advantiges of having a regular sized signature pet.
Zumbuddies
Zumbuddies are plush fairy-like creatures that come with a secret code (just like Webkinz pets) that grants the user entry into a land within the virtual Webkinz World called Zumwhere. The Zumbuddies were released on October 28, 2009. The Zums, as they are called for short, are divided into 6 different types, just as dogs are separated by breed. The types are Bratty Zums, Giggly Zums, Lazy Zums, Peeking Zums, Tricky Zums, and Zippy Zums. Each different Zum type has a different personality for which the are named, so Peeking Zums like to hide, Tricky Zums are smart, etc. Each individual Zum has its own name which always starts with the letter 'z'. The third series of Zumbuddies is rumored to come out June 2010.
